Lily aged 18.5 months has suddenly started to become very domesticated lately. I truly hope that it's not just a phase and that she will continue to be domesticated into adulthood!
She loves helping me clean. When I start removing her playmat off the floor, Lily squeels with excitement and scrambles around helping me. She starts yanking up each square, stacking them up nicely on top of the pile I've already made. And then when all the squares of her playmat are stacked up, Lily tries to climb up and sit ontop of the pile. Then I'll go and get the Dyson and plug it into the plug socket and Lily will then push the big red "on" button and turn the Dyson on. While I'm vacuuming, Lily runs around after me and tries to grab it off me so that she can clean too. After I'm done, I shorten the extension tube and let Lily go crazy. She loves it!
As well as helping with the vacumming, Lily also loves helping me with the laundry. As soon as she sees me bringing the laundry basket into the kitchen, she runs over to me and feverently starts pulling clothes out of the laundry basket and loading them into the washing machine. Once the Bosch is loaded up, I fill up the laundry ball with detergent and Lily puts it into the machine and slams the door shut. I'll then reach up and switch the machine on and at this point Lily is literally hyperventillating with excitement because it means that she gets to press the "on" switch to start the machine up. So I set the spin speed and once I've done that, Lily presses "on", takes a step backwards and claps at herself for being so clever.
Once the laundry has finished, Lily will help me take it out of the machine and into the bedroom to hang up. Lily's way of helping me hang up the washing is to hang certain items of clothing (eg. my knickers and or bras) around her neck and run around manically.
